PHILANTHROPY

Through founder Pitch Johnson and his family, Asset Management has always followed a simple philosophy: Give back to the community. "I don't think of it as charity," says Pitch. "It's for the community I grew up in."

Pitch and the company devote substantial resources and assets to a wide variety of educational, cultural and community institutions. Broadly speaking, they cover the arts, museums, economic development, higher education, youth development and entrepreneurial skill programs.

As in its business interests, the company's philanthropic activities are human in approach. "We're investing in people, not just programs," explains Community Affairs Manager Tarah Evans.

Pitch Johnson and his wife, Cathie, are major donors to a number of organizations throughout the Bay Area and beyond. Among them are: the BUILD Program of East Palo Alto, the Boys & Girls Club of the Peninsula, Hidden Villa, the Tech Museum of Innovation, Start Up, Positive Coaching Alliance, the Center for Venture Philanthropy, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and the San Francisco Opera.
